Husky & Corgi : Wheel types

The first Husky wheels was a simple one-piece plastic wheel, identical on both faces (would be made in different size). At the beginning, these grey and progessively became darker until fully black at the end of production.

After, five news wheels was designed :

- Diecast radial fins wheels with hard black plastic tyres, identical on both faces

- Diecast five perimeter slots wheels with hard black plastic tyres, identical on both faces

- Diecast smooth wheels with hard black plastic tyres, identical on both faces

- Diecast dished wheels with hard black plastic tyres, identical on both faces

- Black plastic wheel with a vaacum plated insert to represent a hub cap, one side design.

The Corgi wheels was named Whizzwheels :

- Deeply dished black 5 spoke Whizzwheels

- Flat proturding pattern black 5 spoke Whizzwheels

- Narrow black Whizzwheels
(direct remplacement for diecast and plated insert Husky's wheels)

- Narrow chrome Whizzwheels (direct remplacement for diecast and plated insert Husky's wheels)

- Flat proturding pattern chrome 5 spoke Whizzwheels

- Flat proturding pattern chrome 5 double spoke Whizzwheels

Mettoy, having 2 different wheel patterns to choose (5 spoke or 5 double spoke) from the early 1970s, would specify a "prefered" wheel type for each model. However, on occasions where stocks of the desired wheel type were not available, production was allowed to substitute different wheels as long as they were the same diameter. This avoided line stoppages while the correct wheels were obtained.

Wheels types as a rule were never mixed on one model, the exeception being when the front and the rear wheels were different diameters.
